Just a little more on this for the Gophs fans that aren't familiar with Dave,
which they probably are anyway, And for the questions raised by others. Spehar
had 102 points last year, which is considered to be the most in Northen
Minnesota ever. (Hey, I'm just getting some of this from the paper in Duluth.)
Then he scored three in three down at the state tournament. I sometimes
question how he will do in DivI. He has lots of speed, but his style of play,
or more correctly, Mike Randolph's (The Duluth East coach) style of play, to me
is not conducive(sp?) to college hockey. I have covered all this before though,
so I won't dwell on it. Anyway, it would be interesting to see if Locker went,
too. I personally don't think he can (He doesn't like to follow rules), but his
Mommy and Daddy will probably do something for him.

Anyway, Spehar said he wanted to go away to school so UMD did not actively
pursue him, but I know that Maine, and I think Wisconsin and someone else were
looking at him. (They listed three schools in the paper, other than the U, and
Maine is the only one I can for sure remember.) It would be interesting if
Spehar gets to play as a 'true' freshman w/ Clint Johnson, Duluth East's leading
scorer of the previous year, while Clint is a sophomore. Of course, they
probably wouldn't even be on the same line. Very different styles of play,
which is necessary, of course, by their sizes. Spehar is dwarfed by Johnson,
but Spe's numbers dwarfed anything Johnson put up.

Well, enough of my ramblings,
Thank you for your time,
Tony Frolik
