Keith says:
>Again, "The Nation's Newspaper" has college hockey news. On page 14C of
>10/19's edition is an article about Alabama-Huntsville's hockey
>program.

The interesting thing I got out of this was that the UAH club
team used to draw 6,000 for games with club teams from Auburn,
Tennessee, Alabama, etc. Now that they've stepped up to the
big-time, they draw only 3,500 (still pretty impressive for a
    non-hockey hotbed).

There's also a report on two Alaska-Anchorage players who face
charges of assault and trespassing stemming from a fight at a
local nightclub. The players are free on bail and are able to
play. Their trial date is December 11. Rumors that the players
are transfers from Lowell are unconfirmed...

USA Today hockey writer Kevin Allen offered his boring choices
for Hobey Baker & conference predictions (doesn't anyone have
the guts to step out on a limb?):

I'm not sure if these are in order or not. I fail to understand
why these people don't rate Steve Heinze very highly.

>If the USA Today keeps up a one-article-per-day pace, I promise to stop
>telling you about every single one.

Not likely. But it is a promising start.

By the way, folks, with Keith covering the CCHA so well,
Bill & others handling the ECAC, and myself & hopefully
others giving you Hockey East news, I was wondering if
anyone might be able to take on the WCHA. The most
important thing is scores, and updated standings would
also be great. It's hard to get this info in the East
without waiting for The Hockey News to hit my mailbox
    each week.

Also, if anyone would like to give weekly standings/scores
from any of the Division III leagues around the country,
that would be fantastic. I tried to send out ECAC East/West/
North/South info last year when I could, but it's very hard
to give fans of those leagues the info they want when so much
of my time is taken up with Hockey East & other Div. I stuff.
For Eastern Div. III fans, The Boston Globe has most ECAC III
scores every day and will publish standings at least every
    Tuesday.

Finally, Hockey East Media Day will be next Wednesday at the
Boston Garden's Blades and Boards club, and I hope to be able
to make it & give a report later in the day so Keith can
complain about the preseason all-star teams again.
