Another good example: look at the numbers for the top 4 HE goalies.
Legault's record is nowhere near as good as the other three, but his
GAA/save% figures are better than those of Herlofsky/Noble, and his
save% is better than Allison's. (looking at HE games through 02/27/95).

RK PLAYER, SCHOOL, CLASS GP W-L-T GAA SV% || GP W-L-T GAA SV% NHL
1  Blair Allison, ME, Jr    23 15-2-6  2.71 .884  ||  36 27-3-6  2.59 .889
2  Martin Legault, Merr, So 19  6-9-4  3.18 .907  ||  26  9-13-4 3.26 .906
3  Derek Herlofsky, BU, Sr  14  7-3-3  3.32 .847  ||  20 12-4-3  3.01 .867 DAL
   Tom Noble, BU, Fr        11  8-2-0  3.32 .872  ||  15 12-2-0  2.92 .883 CHI

Legault likewise plays for a team that has had trouble putting the
puck in the net. But that's not his fault. Merrimack is averaging
3.04 goals per HE game, to Maine's 4.33, BU's 5.26, and UNH's 4.71.

Of the 13 HE games Legault has lost or tied, his team scored more than
3 goals in only 2 of them. In the 19 HE games in which he has
appeared, he has allowed 3 goals or fewer in 12. But Merrimack won
only six of those 12 games.

With just one game left in the regular season, I have finally decided
that it's not unrealistic to consider Legault a strong candidate, maybe
even the front-runner, for second team All-Hockey East (with Allison
the clear favorite for first team). He could be Merrimack's first
ever All-HE player.
