A Jeffrey Libby goal off an assist by Brad Purdie with 5 seconds
remaining in the second period broke a 2-2 tie as the University
of Maine Black Bears defeated the University of Alaska Anchorage
Nanooks 3-2 Friday night at Carlson Center in Fairbanks, Alaska.
 
Maine outshot Alaska Fairbanks 29-24 for the game, while going
2-5 on the power play. Alaska Fairbanks went 0-4 on the power
play, but did score a short-handed goal at the 3:13 mark in the
second period.
 
The teams meet again Saturday night at 7:30 p.m. PDT
