Pierre Belanger is everybody's favorite referee to
dump on, and I won't argue that he's brought it on
himself by making The Critical Error of
officiating: becoming a story himself.  However,
there are several ECAC officials I'd get rid of
before Pierre (Galipeau, who is apparently
already gone, Gallagher, and the Murphy twins,
just to name a few).  Pierre has called games in
what I (and apparently many of you) would term
an arbitrary fashion, but at least he doesn't need
to have the rules explained to him, as many
officials do.
 
Anyway, Pierre's place in history is assured.  The
TBRW? award for worst ECAC official is named
after him.
