In Bob Monahan's article in today's Boston Globe previewing the ECAC &
HE playoffs, the following appears:
 
"Also, Hockey East's third-year assistant commissioner Dr Norinne
(Nonni) Daly resigned Saturday night because of the ruling against
Maine.
 
Said Daly, a 1959 Maine graduate, `I'm philosophically opposed to the
action taken by the board Friday, and it makes no sense to continue to
work as part of the league's administration.'"
 
My only additional comments are that in many ways, Nonni has been more
valuable than the commissioner because she has been responsible for
the weekly releases, HE promotion, tourney publicity, etc. and I can
only imagine how the league will need to scramble to cover everything
at this time of year.  In fact, I was talking with Merrimack SID Jim
Seavey and he was quite busy because *he* was doing the release this
week.
