ok I figured it out...
(this could hold true for any team i.e. Clarkson but we are concerned with
Maine at the moment)...schedule strength....
ok...Just because a team has been consistently ranked #1 ( or very near it)
is going to BY DEFAULT make their opponents and competitors schedules
stronger...no? i.e. they are #1 because it is less difficult for them to beat
a team as when a team ranked below them played the same team.
Also that 'same team' would also be ranked below the #1 of course, so that
'same team' is not going to be less difficult for the #1 to beat than
anyone else, BECAUSE the team is #1. Confused? :-)
so why should this by default be held against the current reigning #1 ?
for example: it is going to be much easier for the #1 team to beat the #10
(used arbitrarily) team than it is going to be for the # 25 (picked
arbitrarily) team. but because its the same team that the #1 and #25 are
trying to beat, it should be weighted the same!
