Michigan Tech has 9 this season (1-3-5). 3 other teams besides OSU -
Western Michigan (3-1-3), Brown (0-0-7), and Alaska-Anchorage (0-2-5)
have also played 7 overtime games this year.
"Most overtime games in a regular season" is not a record that I
believe is kept by most people, although perhaps the CCHA does keep
it. I do not know what the record is for most overtime games in a
season; however, LSSU did play 13 in 1993-94 (6-3-4). That is the
most I can find after a quick look through recent years.
Three of those LSSU wins came in the playoffs, so LSSU played only 10
in the regular season (3-3-4).
When Michigan State tied 8 games in 1991-92, they played 11 overtime
games in the regular season and overall (2-1-8). 10 were CCHA games
(2-1-7).
Tentatively, LSSU with 13 in the entire season (1993-94) and MSU with
11 in the regular season (1991-92) look like the leaders and would be
tough to beat. But if anyone finds a team that has bettered those,
please post.
