As I Understand It, the reason for the blue tint used to be to make 
the ice appear white on teevee.  Since those days, a lot has changed 
- specifically, lighting and presumably its color, and television 
technology.  (Anybody still have a CRT tv?)  I'm trying to imagine 
how green ice would look for televised games (without losing my lunch).
