#11 Providence defeated at #2 new hampshire, 3-0
DURHAM, N.H.. -- The 11th-ranked Providence College men's hockey team was
defeated, 3-0, at second-ranked New Hampshire on Friday, November 15 at the
Whittemore Center in Durham, N.H
New Hampshire jumped out to a 1-0 first period lead on a goal by Sean
Collins at 11:44. The Wildcats increased their lead to 2-0 in the second
period as Mick Mounsey scored on a screen shot, which bounced off a
defender's skate passed PC's freshman goaltender Bobby Goepfert (Kings
Park, N.Y.) at the 11:07 mark.
In the third period, Steve Saviano added an empty-net goal with three
seconds remaining to close out the scoring.
Goepfert made 36 saves, while Ayers stopped 24 shots to earn the shutout.
UNH outshot PC, 40-24.
The Friars are back in action on Friday, November 22 when they host
Merrimack at Schneider Arena at 7:00 p.m.
