The Brown Hockey Team Banquet sponsored by the Brown Hockey Association
took place last Friday at the Wannamoisett Country Club in Rumford, RI
and Coach Roger Grillo disclosed that:
Senior forward and Assistant Captain ADRIAN SMITH (Beeton, Ont.) had
been designated as the senior who achieved the highest academic average
over the first seven semesters and had also been voted the team's Most
Valuable Player during the 1998-99 season;
Captain and senior forward PAUL GIBLIN (Paramus, NJ) had been selected
for the Coaches' Award which is given to the player who best represented
the Brown hockey program both on the ice and in the community; and
Senior forward JADE KERSEY (Radium Hot Springs, BC) had been selected as
recipient of the trophy awarded to the player who generates the most
spark and enthusiasm in building team spirit.
The three above-listed seniors will be sorely missed, however the
balance of the squad returns next season, and it was announced that
forwards MICHAEL BENT '00 (Milton, MA) and TYLER GARROW '00 (100 Mile
House, BC) had been elected co-captains of the 1999-2000 Brown varsity
hockey team.
