One of the first days back from the Covid shutdown we had a couple stop in.
Neither my assistant or I knew who they were, but they started asking
questions about family that grew up in this area back in the 20s, 30s and
40s. While I was talking with the wife, her husband went outside and made a
phone call. It turned out that his mother- who will be 100 soon- had grown
up in Rumford. Her best friend- who recently turned 99- still lives in
Rumford. He called the friend to discover that she is not only still living
in Rumford, but she lives alone and wanted them to come over. They did.
End of story from my part. until I discovered that Newscenter had picked up
the story.

If you have a few minutes- it's worth it to watch this news clip and/or read
the story and see how his research- some of which took place right here at
the Mexico Public Library- helped reconnect two ladies who haven't seen each
other since 1970. (I hope this works. I don't send links very often, so if
it doesn't someone may need to help me figure out how to send it.)
