The University of Michigan completed a 3-game season sweep of Ohio State in
Columbus tonight with a 5 to 1 victory. The Buckeyes lived up to their
40-minute-team reputation as they stayed in the game until 19:52 of the second
period when Brendan Morrison scored a power-play goal to put Michigan ahead 3
to 1. Morrison, a freshman, scored two power-play goals for the night and was
awarded the game's first star by radio station WTKA. OSU goalie, Tom Askey
kept the game close and was the game's second star, and Michigan goalie Steve
Shields earned the third star by stoning the Buckeye's on all but one of their
scoring opportunities.
Also scoring for Michigan were Kevin Hilton, Jason Bottererill and Mike Legg. U
of M's Warren Luhning and OSU's Rob Peters both received game DQs for fighting
in the first period. Luhning will be out for Michigan's game against Notre
Dame at the Palace and Peters will miss OSU's game against MSU, both tomorrow
night.
