Here at Indiana, we have a "Compliance Coordinator".  I can't tell you
why we have one, but we do.  It's a new position that was just filled
this January.  This is the person who you contact if you have a question
about what you can and cannot do.  If any of you have seen the newest NCAA
rule book, you know that it can be difficult to find exactly what you are
looking for.
What our CC also does is send out a newletter that's in a question/answer
format.  I was surprised at the number of things that it would be illegal
for me (as an athletic trainer) or for the coaches or any other university
official to do.  The newsletter also contains information for the coaches
about whether or not they are in an "active" or "dead" period, and if
it's "preseason" vs. "in-season" for practices.  I thinks it's pretty
beneficial....
Given the problems that a number of schools have had, I can see this
position developing in many campuses.
