It wasn't pretty, but the Penn State Icers broke the team record for wins in
a season with a 4-2 victory over a much-improved Univ. of Buffalo Thundering
Herd. Rob Keegan opened the scoring for the Icers, and the Herd also notched
one goal in the first as it was 1-1 after one. Penn State then broke things
open in the second as the Icers scored 3 times, twice on the power play. Dave
Murphy, Ross Cowan, and Steve Karl all scored. Buffalo scored once in the
third, but the Icers defense shut Buffalo down the rest of the way. What kept
the Herd in this game was stellar play by Buffalo netminder Bill Schwartz,
who made 52 saves. John Gray picked up the win and had 18 saves for Penn State.
The Icers are now 27-0-0, while Buffalo falls to 9-16-0. Penn State finishes
up the regular season tonight as they face the Buffalo State Bengals.

With Maine's loss, this might make Penn State the ONLY undefeated team in
college hockey. Are any of the Division III teams currently undefeated?
I'm also not sure about ACHA Division II teams (too many to keep track of).
