       HOCKEY BLANKS WORCESTER STATE, 3-0
AUBURN, MA-Senior forward Joe Hill (Newburyport, MA/Valley Jr. Warriors) scored twice and senior goaltender Collin Tracy (Medford, MA/ Medford HS) made 28 saves as the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth's hockey team blanked host Worcester State, 3-0, in a Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference game at Horgan Rink Saturday.
Hill gave UMass Dartmouth the lead when he put the Corsairs on top midway through the third period. Hill took a pass from senior forward Jason Stahl (Londonderry, NH/Valley Jr. Warriors), crossed the blue line and ripped a 30 foot shot past WSU goaltender Brian Kalczynski at 10:52 of the third period. Sophomore forward Dan Dempsey (Norwell, MA/Lebanon Valley College) also assisted.

Senior forward Todd Bartelson (Pepperell, MA/Valley Jr. Warriors) made it 2-0 less than a minute later; taking a pass from senior forward Billy Manning (Stoughton, MA/Bridgewater Jr. Bandits) after Manning won an offensive zone face-off and firing a shot home. Hill scored an empty net goal with 13 seconds remaining to complete the scoring.
"We played one of our better games of the season," said UMass Dartmouth Head Coach John Rolli. "We needed a turnaround game after losing our last two, and it was a real will-to-win effort. We helped ourselves today. When we have our hard hat on and we bring our lunch bucket, we're a pretty good team."
The Corsairs out shot WSU, 34-28. Kalczynski made 31 saves for the Lancers.
UMD improved to 10-5-1 and 6-3-1 in the MASCAC with the victory, while WSU fell to 7-5-3 and 4-4-1 in MASCAC play with the defeat. UMass Dartmouth will return to action when they visit Southern New Hampshire next Thursday evening. The Panthers will visit Fitchburg State Thursday.
