FOUR CORSAIRS RECEIVE ECAC NORTHEAST POST-SEASON HONORS

NORTH DARTMOUTH, MA-Four members of the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth's hockey team have received post-season Eastern College Athletic Conference Northeast honors for the 2007-08 season.

Senior forward Jeff Grant (Burlington, MA/Austin Prep) and senior defenseman Tyler Crocker (Wakefield, MA/Wakefield HS) were named first team All-Conference, while freshman forward Joe Hill (Newburyport, MA/Valley Jr. Warriors) and freshman defenseman Mickey Dudley (Douglas, MA/Boston Jr. Bruins) were named to the All-Rookie Team.

Grant leads the Corsairs in scoring with 17 goals and 20 assists for 37 points, has 67 goals and 76 assists for 143 points in 107 games in his career, and is tied for seventh in the conference in points per game. He has 19 points, including eight goals, in his last seven games.

Hill has scored 13 points, including four goals, in the last seven games. He is third among ECAC Northeast freshmen in points. Crocker and Dudley lead the Corsairs in scoring among defensemen, with Crocker scoring six power goals and adding 11 assists for 17 points, and Dudley scoring four goals and adding 13 assists for 17 points.

“Our four players are certainly deserving of their honors,” said UMass Dartmouth Head Coach John Rolli. “Jeff Grant has been an immense player for us, during the season and during his career, as well as over the last seven games. Tyler Crocker has been a mainstay on the blue line for all four of his seasons, and this year, he has the added responsibility of being team captain. The play of both Joe Hill and Mickey Dudley has been big factors in the success of our team. Hill is a complete hockey player, and Dudley is as solid a defenseman as we’ve had in recent memory.”

The Corsairs host Nichols in the ECAC Northeast championship game Saturday at 4:30 p.m. The winner will earn the conference’s automatic bid to the NCAA Division III Championships.
