JEFF GRANT EARNS ECAC NORTHEAST HONOR

CAPE COD, MA– Junior forward Jeff Grant (Burlington, MA/Austin Prep) of the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth’s hockey team has been honored for his performance last week.

Grant has been named Eastern College Athletic Conference Northeast Player of the Week. It’s the second time this year he has earned the award, and he has been honored at least once in each of the last two seasons.

Grant scored five goals and adding three assists for eight points last week. Last Wednesday night, in the rematch of last season's championship game against Wentworth, Grant scored four consecutive power play goals while assisting on UMass Dartmouth’s first goal in a 5-3 victory. He became the second Corsair to record a natural hat trick this season. Grant added a goal and two assists in a 7-2 victory against Framingham State Saturday.

Currently, he leads all Eastern College Athletic Conference Northeast players with eight power play goals, is tied for first with three game winning goals, and is third in the conference with 14 goals. Last season's scoring leader and ECAC Northeast/New England Hockey Writers All Star, Grant now has 65 goals and 68 assists for 133 career points in 103 games.

“Jeff Grant has unquestionably elevated his game as the team battles down the home stretch,” said UMass Dartmouth Head Coach John Rolli. “His four consecutive power play goals in the rematch of last season's ECAC Northeast championship game with Wentworth is unparalleled here at UMass Dartmouth. Jeff has clearly been the key offensive player on this team all season long."

The Corsairs are 13-8-1, 11-3-0 in the ECAC Northeast. They will return to action when they host Johnson & Wales in their final home conference game of the season Wednesday evening.
