To Steve Christopher, and all who think I'm "Not Very Nice"-
Come on! Since when does "niceness" constitute a criterion for being
a good fan? How can one not hate UND's Goon Squad? So I hate NMU (and UND,
and the Cheeseheads) - so what? I mean, I'm not throwing dead rodents out
on the ice or anything. Why can't I be a little strong in my "rivalry
rhetoric"? I've been made to feel a bit uncomfortable by other fans before.
Try being one of four Gopher fans in a packed Alfond Arena in Orono when
Minnesota is up by one - I didn't make a peep, but I definitely felt
threatened. Or when Minnesota played Harvard in the '89 final - *every*
non-contesting fan - from Maine, Michigan St., Wisconsin, UND - they all
rooted for Harvard. Everyone hates the Gophers - why can't a Gopher fan
hate everyone else? Society made me what I am. :-)
DAMN STRAIGHT I'm gonna root for the WCHA - NO MATTER WHAT.
