Tom, sorry for the duplicate post.

re: Maine – Harvard: Was anybody else screaming at Mazzoleni to use his time out when Maine made
it 4-3? Couldn’t understand it at all. The team was clearly rattled then, and the situation
begged for a TO. He needed to settle his team BEFORE Maine tied it. Waiting ‘til Maine tied it
was closing the barn after the horses had escaped; at that point, IMO, a Maine win was inevitable.
I have no doubt that if the game had gone into OT, the outcome would have been exactly the same.

re: NoDak – Holy Cross: I’ll give HC credit for not falling apart after the first goal. The play
was certainly more lopsided than the score, and I thought North Dakota played down to HC’s level.
But I’m willing to put up with it; at least the score wasn’t really lopsided, as it probably would
have been a few years ago. Heck, In the squeakball tournament, the first seed’s first round game
is usually a 40 point blowout.

re: Wisconsin – Ohio State: Didn’t stay up for it (on tape delay, started at 10:00) but FWIW, the
Boston Globe’s writer compared it to a Big Ten football game, with O-State running a “three yards
and a cloud of dust” offense. He called it “three zones, and an ice of mush.”

re: BC – Niagara: The other one that could have been a blowout, but was reasonably competitive
for a first round game. For those who didn’t see it, there was an unsuccessful penalty shot by
Niagara.

Clay
