This was in the Fargo Forum yesterday and I hadn't
seen anyone mention it yet.

Former Sioux standout, Jason Blake was given the rest
of the year off by the Islanders to be with his wife.
His wife is currently pregnant and also has been
recently diagnosed with thyroid cancer.  Jason's wife
who name escapes me will be induced next week and will
begin chemotherapy treatments shortly thereafter.

Jason was quoted in saying that it was the Islanders
idea to give him the rest of the year off.  It is nice
to see a pro team putting family in front of the team.

My prayers to Jason and his family.
