PROVIDENCE, R.I. — The Providence College men’s hockey team is ranked No. 8
in the nation, according to the latest USA Today/American Hockey Magazine
Coaches Poll and No. 9 according to the USCHO.com poll released on Monday,
February 19, 2001.
The Friars, 17-8-5, posted a 1-0-1 record last week. On February
16, the Friars defeated Boston University, 4-3, at Schneider Arena. On
February 17, PC skated to a 5-5 tie with Boston University at Walter Brown
Arena.
Sophomore Devin Rask (Parkside, Saskatchewan) is currently leading
the Friars in scoring with 40 points (17 goals, 23 assists). Sophomore
Nolan Schaefer (Yellow Grass, Saskatchewan) and senior Boyd Ballard
(Weyburn, Saskatchewan) have shared the Friars’ goaltending duties. This
season, the duo have combined for a 2.47 goals against average and a .919
save percentage.
The Friars will return to action Thursday, February 22, versus
UMass-Lowell at Tsongas Arena at 7:00 p.m.
