PROVIDENCE MEN'S HOCKEY PICKED TO FINISH
SIXTH OF NINE IN PRESEASON HOCKEY EAST POLL
PROVIDENCE, R.I. -- The Providence College men's hockey team was picked to
finish sixth of nine schools in the annual HOCKEY EAST Preseason Coaches'
Poll released on Tuesday, October 3 at the HOCKEY EAST Media Day at the
FleetCenter in Boston. The 2000 NCAA runner-up Boston College was picked
to finish first with 72 points.
Providence returns 17 of 26 players from last year's team, which finished
the 1999-00 season in fifth place in the HOCKEY EAST standings. The Friars
concluded the 1999-00 season with an 18-18-2 mark.
Providence College will open its 2000-01 season with an exhibition game
against Acadia University on Saturday, October 7 at Schneider Arena. The
game will start at 7:00 p.m. and admission is free.
The Friars will open the regular season at Schneider Arena against Miami
University on October 20. The following night, PC will play Lake Superior.
Both games will begin at 7:00 p.m. Providence will open its HOCKEY EAST
season at home against Boston University on October 28 at 7:00 p.m.
