all of the cement base of the old rink is out (and the old
refrigeration lines, i assume) to a level of about 8 inches below the
concrete floor of the stands. When I was there yesterday, they were
in the process of rolling a sand base.
down in the track, they have covered the south 16 feet or so with
plywood or particle board. I'm told that is so the forklifts won't
damage the track while moving out the old refrigeration equipment and
bringing in the new.
finally, they have the rink surrounded with plastic (from floor to
ceiling) and appear to be forcing air on the rink as the plastic is
billowed out.
on the east side, the arena floor is at ground level, so stuff going
to the bottom level must enter and leave from the west
