I think the committee did an outstanding job. It is easy to understand
and reasonable. There are two issues of potential controversy:
The choice of which two Hockey East Teams would go West and
How to deal with Niagara

i picked up something from the selection show today that, while it is
at odds with how we have thought things to work, makes perfect sense.
when there is a regional imbalance (7-5) take the bottom 2 from the
smaller region and the bottom 3 from the larger region and swap them.

that way there was no notion of taking the 7th place team, moving it
to the other site to even things up, and then move it back to the
original region.

I'm speculating that the committee ordered the teams
BU Colgate New Hampshire BC based on the individual comprisons and
splitting them by saying BU and Colgate won 2 and UNH and BC won 1
and then using the individual comparisons to rank each of the pairs

Several folk thought michigan would stay in the west as one of the top
four western teams, but the comments on how the committee was handling
the regional imbalance (last two teams from smaller region go)
explains, to me at least, how Michigan, the second lowest western
team, got to the east regional.

It turns out that my reasoning last night, though flawed, produced the
correct regional placement. I had niagara as a western team with the
third best pwr showing. I had michigan and st cloud as 5th and 6th.

At least it got me the teams in the same region as the NCAA

Then for the ranking the committee demoted niagara to last, but i kept
them where the PWR put them

My ranking Actual

BC MSU
MSU Niagara

that caused me to switch the pairings of niagara and msu.
