The two Service Academies split their season series this weekend at West
Point. The Force took a 7-3 win on Friday night, while Army came back to win
5-4 on Saturday.

Friday night's game was fast and wide open, with Air Force exploiting
their size and speed advantage. After losing leading scorer Eric Rice early in
the first period (game misconduct for butting), Air Force fell behind 2-0.
That was as good as it got for Army, as the Falcons scored 7 unanswered goals
and coasted in for the win. Incidentally, this was Major Chuck Delich's 100th
win (100-94-8).

Saturday night was a different story, as the Army defense played a tough,
physical game and shut down the Force for about 58 minutes. Leading 4-1
entering the 3d period, Air Force's Tony Roe made it 4-2 at 1:09. But the
Cadets put the clamps on, and Chad Sundam scored what proved to be the game
winner at 10:38. Air Force made it interesting, to say the least, scoring
twice in the last 1:40 but just ran out of time. Army Plebe goalie Brian Bolio
got his 3d win of the year, coming a week after his win against
Alabama-Huntsville.

It was a good series, and I got a chance to meet Charlie Shub and his son
Jon and brother Mike and give them a bit of a tour of the Academy. Definitely
a dedicated fan to make the trip from Colorado! Thanks for the pretzel,
Charlie! I hope to see you next year at Colorado Springs.
