Maine extended their winning streak to 8-0-4 and edged closer to a #1
ranking by beating a hot B.U. Terrier team on the road last night, winning
4-3 with two goals from Cory Larose.
Northeastern pummeled UMass Amherst by a tune to 8-2. The season high goal
output was aided with a couple from Todd Barclay including the game-winner.
Its the second time in less than a month that the Huskies have pummeled
otherwise very impressive goaltending. This time it was the Minutemen's
Markus Helanen and on 12/13 it was the dynamic duo from Maine - Mike
Morrison (3 goals in 28:30) and Alfie Michaud (4 goals in 36:30). It was the
third straight game where the Huskie attack has chased the opponent's
starting goalie from the game.
Providence furthered the cause of HockeyEast's winning non-conference record
by destroying one the the ECAC's top teams with a 7-3 victory over Cornell.
The win gives HockeyEast an 18-16-2 edge between the two leagues after
HockeyEast has already clinched winning records versus the WCHA, CCHA and
Independents. Cornell had a 3-1 lead in the second period before the Friars
went on to score 6 unanswered goals including 4 in the thrid period.
