The Minnesota men's and women's athletic departments have produced 28
GTE/CoSIDA Academic All-Americas during the 1990s, ranking them ninth
among all Division I institutions and second in the Big Ten.
 
Nebraska led the nation with 77 Academic All-Americas. Southern Illinois
and Stanford rounded out the top 10 with 27 each. The top 10
institutions in the 1990s are as follows:
 
Nebraska 77
Notre Dame 43
Georgia and Kansas 34
Penn State 33
Bucknell 32
Florida 31
Ball State 30
Gophers 28
Southern Illinois and Stanford 27
