The first line (and first D pairing) players are quite comparable between
the systems (I think goaltending is better in the colleges, but not by a
large amount).  Comparative quality appears to drop off on college rosters
after the second line.
 
The only other really obvious difference is size: the juniors, as an
explicit NHL feeder system, recruit heavily for size.  Yet, every team still
has its mighty mites.
 
In playing style, the WHL has more offensive oomf, and of course fights are
"legal" (in the sense of getting a major, not a suspension).
 
Hockey is hockey -- it's all great.
