When Boston University won the Beanpot, Hockey East and NCAA
tournaments in 1995, the accomplishment was billed as the Triple
Crown. It occurred to me that this year all three titles of that
triple crown were decided in one building, the Fleece Center.
(Although of course BC wasn't in the running for that trifecta last
night, having fallen in the Beanpot semis.) The only time the feat of
winning all three titles in the same building might have been pulled
off was by BU in 1972, since they won the national championship in the
Boston Garden, which I'm guessing was also where the ECAC championship
game (against the same opponent) was held. Did BU also win the
Beanpot that year? (And for that matter were the ECACs held in Boston
in 1972?)
