Scoring total by conference the past two seasons,

  ECAC 132 895 6.78
  HEA 108 869 8.05

1995-96 GAMES GOALS PERGAME
  CCHA 165 1223 7.41

Scoring is down in the WCHA this season. Otherwise
I see no difference from one year to the next.

Is it possible that the save percentages in the ECAC are
a result of poor quality shots and, as a whole, below
average shooters as much as they're a result of super-
human goaltending?

Clarkson's Todd White led the ECAC with 24-23--47 while
the league average was 6.78 total goals per game. Last
season, Vermont's Eric Perrin led the ECAC with 21-33--54
while the league average was 6.80 total goals per game.
But, I don't remember anyone lauding Perrin for doing it
against the greatest goaltenders in the NCAA...which is
what folks seem to be saying about White.

Yeah, I know...I'm CCHA biased. No need to remind me.
Btw...at Michigan and around the CCHA, saves are getting
more and more difficult to get credit for. For example, if
someone clears the puck down the ice and it happens to
be on net and the goaltender stops it, he isn't credited with
a save. I disagree with this, but that's how it's been scored
out here this season. Also, sometimes in the CCHA, if you
make a save but give up a rebound and the other team
scores on the rebound, you lose credit for the initial save.
Sounds funny, but it happens more than you'd think. This
doesn't account for the full difference in save percentage
across the leagues, but it does...once again...raise the
issue of having more consistent scoring "rules" across
the entire NCAA.

Btw...more numbers from the Brendan Morrison file: He
has points on 74 of Michigan's 204 goals (36.3%). He's
been on the ice for 102 of UM's 204 goals (50.0%). He's
been on the ice for 58 of UM's 81 power play goals.

In CCHA tournament play, Morrison has 6-18--24 and is
+11 in 11 games. In the NCAA tournament, Morrison has
3-9--12 and is +5 in 6 games. That's a post-season average
of 2.12 points per game including 2.00 in the NCAA tourney.
