Pituitary ball refers to the fact that having an overactive pituitary
gland seems to be an advantage in this sport. The right sneakers help, too.
 
Steroid ball refers to the fact that external sources of hormone-like
substances seem to be an advantage in this sport. The right high-energy,
electrolyte-filled beverage helps, too.
 
Hockey, of course, is manned, and womanned, with normal size, clean-living
individuals who come about their skills and conditioning with patience
and hard work.
