Enjoyed our annual trip to the CCHA playoffs except for the game
results that left a lot to be desired - :(
 
It was good seeing HOCKEY-L'er Glen Keeney again, as well as various
other nice people from Lake State and Bowling Green that we had an
opportunity to talk to.
 
Two questions for the CCHA administrators...
 
1. Why is the CCHA the only league that doesn't include a consolation
   game in the league playoffs? Reasons have been given in the past
   on Hockey-L, including too expensive, too much fighting. If true,
   why don't the other leagues have these same problems??? Bring back
   those consolation games!
 
2. Why can't the canned loudspeaker music be turned off for the
   CCHA playoffs at the Joe?  The program stated that the CCHA wanted
   to include full participation by the schools, including pep bands.
   Prior to and during the first game, we listened to
   canned music while the bands from Bowling Green and
   Lake State just mostly sat there (presumably
   waiting for a chance to play). These bands got very little chance
   to play as the canned music was almost always on. Even after we
   we complained to arena officials nothing changed.
 
   During the second game, it was more of the same. At times, the
   Michigan State and Michigan bands had to play over the sound of
   the canned music. And the same thing continued to happen in the
   championship game as well.
 
   Being MSU fans we sat behind the Laker band during the final game
   and particularly enjoyed their playing the MSU Fight Song (twice).
 
   Why do we need canned music at all when we have the great pep bands
   of the CCHA schools?
