I sold tickets both nights, and I'd say the response was very good. Many
people at the tournament had heard about Travis, and it wasn't at all
unusual for people to buy 5 or 10 tickets at a time. I sold tickets to
employees of Joe Louis Arena (both administrative and people who work
the concession stands), parents of youth hockey players, and even a CCHA
ref -- but mostly to fans like you and me. There were copies of articles
about Travis posted at the tables, so people who didn't know about him
had the chance to learn. Also, I received many questions about Travis'
current condition -- thanks to the contributors to HOCKEY-L and
INFO-HOCKEY-L, I was able to give people current information.

I don't know how much was raised; I'm sure John Haeussler will post
that information when it's available. As a data point, I did buy one of the
last tickets sold, which was serial number 7983 (with about 600 tickets
unsold from the other table), so I'd guess it was somewhere in the
$7000+ range. (Again, that's just an educated guess.)

Today (1/2), CBS This Morning ran a segment with Paula Zhan (sp?) interviewing
Travis' parents live, and she asked basically the same question. Mr. Roy said
that Travis is very much aware of the support from around the country, but it's
hard for him to really feel it at this point, since the reality of his injury
has really just started sinking in over the past couple weeks. Mr. Roy also
stated that he looks forward to the day when Travis is out of the hospital so
he can attend a game at Walter Brown, the Fleet Center, or his "home" rink in
Maine and feel the love and support himself, since that's the only way he will
really understand. Mrs. Roy also said that the holidays have been a difficult
time for Travis (which I'm sure we can all understand). The current outlook
is that he will remain hospitalized for 4 to 6 months, as his rehabilitation
is really just starting, but doctors are hopeful that he will be able to attend
his sister's wedding in April. (This is all from memory, so I hope I didn't
forget anything important.)

I'm afraid that I'm not sure if I have the address for Travis, so hopefully
someone else can post "definitive" information.

P.S. A hearty round of thanks to the Haeusslers, who put a LOT of time and
energy into making the raffle a success! Personally, it was great getting
a chance to meet and work with the other volunteers... even the ones from
MSU! :-)
