The Minnesota Class AA and A Hockey Tournaments have finished, and there
was some great division 1 talent showing their potential in some classic
games.

The championship game, won by Duluth East over Moorhead 5-3, had several
tremendous players showcasing their abilities. For Duluth East, Dave
Spehar had a hat trick, ending the season with 58 goals and 45 assists I
think for 103 points in 28 games. Chris Locker also ended the season with
over 90 points for East. For Moorhead, Player of the Year Matt Cullen
showed why he is considered one of the best 2-way hs players in the
country by scoring 2 goals and adding an assist while delivering
punishing checks. Cullen ends the season with 47-41-88, breaking Ryan
Kraft's record of 83 points in a season at Moorhead HS. Ryan Frish, who
along with Cullen will be playing at St Cloud State had another great
tournament, making probably the prettiest play of hte tournament on an
assist to Cullen. Troy Bagne showed his great hands to all who watched
the games and will be another d-1 talent to look for. And Joel Jamison,
defense for Moorhead, played an awesome game with a separated shoulder.
How could this kid be passed up by d-1 schools? He is one of hte smartest
players that I have seen play in the hs tournament.

Other players that played well: Mark Parish and Mike Anderson from
Jefferson. Also Toby Peterson, Josh DeWolf, Ben Clymer and Ryan Trebil
from Jefferson will be one's to look for in the future as they will most
likely go d-1. Tony Grosso and Leimbek from Mayo looked very good at
times and showed some potential as possibly d-1 players. IN class A,
Wyatt Smith, future Gopher was a stand-out for Warroad and will be one to
watch..
