It has occurred to me how remarkably similar the regular season looks for
the Wisconsin Badgers and the RPI Engineers. Both teams were consensus top 5
pre-season picks, but stumbled quite a bit during the regular season. Both
teams feature strong goaltending, although neither Jim Carey nor Neil Little
has probably lived up to the pre-season hoopla. Both teams managed to sweep
their season-ending series, winning the second game in OT, to grab third place
in their respective conferences. Both teams had been swept the previous
weekend.
Wisconsin won 61.1% of their games, RPI won slightly fewer, 58.6%. Wisconsin
played in an inarguably tougher conference, but RPI can boast of victories
against 2 of the top 3 teams in the country.
Is it karma?
