NO MORE MR NICE GUY
Merrimack, which won the Hockey East Sportsmanship Award last season with
the fewest average penalty minutes per game, finished 1992-93 with the
second most penalty minutes of the eight teams; the Warriors were penalized
235 times for 564 minutes, an average of 23.5 PIM/game. That is up from
the 14.5 averaged by Merrimack during 1991-92. BU had 560 PIM entering its
final game and although I don't know exactly how many PIM the Terriers had
against PC Friday, it was definitely more than 4, so they lead the league.

BC is probably the winner of the award this season, as the Eagles had 349
PIM with two games left and 2nd was UNH with 384 entering the Maine game.

AND A CHILD SHALL LEAD THEM...
Paul Kariya won the regular season scoring title; I don't know his final
totals, but he led by 15 points entering Maine's last two games. This is
the first time a freshman has finished first in scoring.

DOUBLE TROUBLE, DEJA VU
Maine's Garth Snow and Mike Dunham finished 1-2 in goaltending in Hockey
East, the third time in 9 years that one team has done that. The two also
did the deed in 1990-91 with Dunham edging out Snow. The other time came
in 1985-86 when BC's Scott Gordon and David Littman led the league.
