The limited amount of inter-league play before the holidays meant
that CHODR didn't have a lot of information to go on in predicting
results for inter-league games, but it still did pretty well. Lets
take a look at the results for the tournaments and other games.

In the Nissan/Jeep Classic before Christmas, CHODR was 0 for 2 with
Kent claiming surprise victories over Anchorage and Michigan State.

In the Great Lakes Invitational, everything went by the book and the
scores predictins were quite close, except MSU over NMU. CHODR: 3-1

In the Badger Showdown, Wisconsin was the favorite and Miami was
slightly favored over champ BU, which struggled early on. CHODR: 2-2

In the Denver Tournament, all went as planned except for Army over
Air Force, who was favored by 0.23 goals. CHODR: 3-1

In the Cleveland Cup, CHODR got the winner of BGSU-Cornell right but
was totally off the mark as the predicted score was 4.54-2.61 and the
final was 8-7 ot. Call it a miss along with Cornell-OSU. CHODR: 2-2

In the New Hampshire Tournament the operative word was UPSET, spelled
D-A-R-T-M-O-U-T-H. Northeastern also toppled Vermont, who was
favored by 0.09 goals. CHODR: 1-3

At the RPI Invitational, Clarkson lost another 1-goal game and
Providence upset RPI at home. CHODR: 2-2

In the Dexter Classic, CHODR was 3-1. I bet you can guess which one
it missed but for those who forgot (or would like to forget) it was
Brown over Lake Superior.

And in the Mariucci Classic, favorite Minnesota dropped a pair at
home while SLU came up short against Ferris State. CHODR: 1-3

So all in all, CHODR was 17-17 in nine tournaments, but fared much
better in some of the non-league games that were played. In some
games of note:

Minnesota was favored 3.34-3.28 for a pair at Anchorage. One game
ended in a 3-3 tie while the gophers took the other 7-0. We'll give
ourselves a win for the tie and half a win for the blowout. Kent and
Colgate played twice to a 5-5 ot tie in games that Kent was favored
in 5.11-4.26. We'll give ourselves one win and one loss here.
Providence was favored by over 3 goals in hosting Air Force for a
pair, and beat them 10-0 and 2-1. We'll call it a win and a half.
The predicted score for RPI at UNH was 3.41-3.86 while the actual
score was 3-4. That's almost a win and a half right there, but we'll
leave it at one. Yale at Northeastern was predicted 5.41-4.79 and
ended up 8-7 ot. Call it half a win along with UVM at Merrimack
which was predicted 3.63-3.42 and ended up 3-3.

All in all, 13-5 in the non-league games for a total of 30-22
including the tournaments. Not bad considering the upsets that
occurred (Kent, Dartmouth, BU, Minnesota, and Providence alone gave
us 10 upsets) and the limited information available for inter-league
projections.

And now, the predictions for this weekend's action. As always,
favored teams are capitalized and predictions can be made only for
games between two Division I teams.

League play gets back into full swing this weekend, and we begin with
a full slate of action in the ECAC, including the North Country visit
by league unbeaten Harvard and upstart Brown. As is the norm in the
ECAC, home teams are heavy favorites, except for Union, but including
Dartmouth.

Friday, January 8:
   Colgate 4.09 at DARTMOUTH 4.74
   Cornell 1.83 at VERMONT 3.28
   Princeton 2.18 at RPI 4.65
   YALE 5.09 at Union 2.69
   Brown 3.00 at CLARKSON 5.73
Harvard 2.78 at ST LAWRENCE 3.70

Saturady, January 9:
   Cornell 3.24 at DARTMOUTH 3.85
   Colgate 2.68 at VERMONT 4.18
   Yale 3.31 at RPI 4.01
   PRINCETON 3.96 at Union 3.33
   Harvard 2.56 at CLARKSON 4.02
Brown 3.22 at ST LAWRENCE 5.41

In Hockey East, there was a midweek game played between BU and
UMass-Lowell which wasn't ever given a prediction, but BU was
favored 3.42 to 3.02 and won 6-2. Three home-and-home serieses this
weekend while UMass-Lowell plays in Alaska (see below) and Maine is
idle.

Friday, January 8:
Boston College 5.06 at NORTHEASTERN 6.29
BOSTON UNIVERSITY 3.77 at Providence 3.23
NEW HAMPSHIRE 4.82 at Merrimack 4.09

Saturady, January 9:
Providence 2.48 at BOSTON UNIVERSITY 4.52
Merrimack 3.34 at NEW HAMPSHIRE 5.57

Sunday, January 10:
Northeastern 5.54 at BOSTON COLLEGE 5.81

It's "seeing double weekend" in the west where the CCHA, the WCHA,
and both Alaskan schools feature identical schedules for both
Friday and Saturady nights.

Friday, January 8 and Saturday, January 9:

In the CCHA we have three good matchups and one predicted blowout:

Bowling Green 3.56 at FERRIS STATE 4.10
   MICHIGAN 4.98 at Illinois-Chicago 1.80
Lake Superior 3.33 at MIAMI 3.85
Ohio State 3.64 at NOTRE DAME 4.84

Some excellent matchups in the WCHA including a pick-'em in the
Minn-Duluth vs Minnesota rivalry:

MICHIGAN TECH 4.19 at Colorado College 3.64
St Cloud 3.68 at DENVER 4.08
   Minnesota-Duluth 4.49 at MINNESOTA 4.52
North Dakota 4.11 at NORTHERN MICHIGAN 4.58

And in the true North Country WCHA affiliate Anchorage gets a visitor
from Hockey East while CCHA affiliate Fairbanks greets a guest from
the WCHA:

   UMASS-LOWELL 3.38 at Alaska-Anchorage 2.11
   WISCONSIN 3.55 at Alaska-Fairbanks 3.40
