How the WCHA was formed:
 
1969-70 teams: Colorado College, Denver, Michigan, Michigan State, Michigan
Tech, Minnesota, Minnesota-Duluth, North Dakota, Wisconsin
 
1971-72: Notre Dame joins
 
1981-82: Michigan, Michigan State, Michigan Tech, Notre Dame leave
 
1984-85: Michigan Tech, Northern Michigan join
 
1990-91: St. Cloud State joins
 
1993-94: Alaska-Anchorage joins
 
** 1996-97 (end of season):  Northern Michigan Leaves   (StarTribune missed
this one)
 
1999-2000: Mankato State joins
 
2000-2001:  Nebraska-Omaha  ????  (on track to)
