I can certainly understand the intensity of the rivalry. RPI fans get worked
up when Clarkson comes to town and each team has its rivalries no matter
which league
they're in. And a lot of the discussion is certainly relevant, even the
discussion of UMinn's policy of Minnesota-only recruiting (although that
one goes around several times a year. There's nothing wrong with getting
excited over a sporting event,
that's what is so entertaining about it.

It just seems that the technology sometimes gets the better of us. Its so easy
to read something inflammatory, react emotionally and click "send" to send a
message
out into the net before stopping to think what we've just done. Its too easy
to send a message to the list and forget that the list is a collection of
people.

Some of the early UM-UND postings were (IMHO) inflammatory and immature. This
list has a history of fostering rivalries while maintaining friendship, all
in the name of furthering the love of college hockey.

So before you send, read what you've written and remember that everyone
around the
country (and Canada; can't forget Canada ;-) is going to read what you've sent
and YOUR NAME is going to be on the bottom of it.

Enough soapbox for one day.
