I wanted to address another issue.. will the Governor's Cup survive?

According to Maine AD Sue Tyler, the Governor's Cup is on a four year trial
period (this being the 2nd year), and then the schools will decide whether
they want to keep it. I know Maine interim coach Greg Cronin is not happy
that in the past two years they have played UNH three times by Decemeber,
and now this year that they have played UNH and Lowell three times before
Decemeber. In fact Maine played UML three games in-a-row this year.

Now it needs to be noted that Shawn Walsh was one of the people really
behind this idea. Maine's view might change by next year, and since Maine
should open up with Vermont next year.

Also, wasn't Bruce Crowder a big proponent of this tournament? If so that
is another knock now that he has moved on to Northeastern.

Personally I like the idea of the northern New England schools playing each
other in a tournament, but will the Governor's Cup last, especially when
it's three Hockey East schools and only one ECAC school? It would seem to
work better with two and two. Also, would it be so difficult to either move
the tournament, or make sure that the HEA teams are playing each other so
often so early.
