Saves: Finch, B 8 - 9 - 4 - 3 = 24
Duffus, C 4 - 5 - 11 - 3 = 23
Power play: Brown 3 x 7, Cornell 0 x 5
Notes: Cornell squandered a 4-1 lead with poor defensive play,
bad line changes, and a Brown power play that took advantage
of Cornell penalties for 3 power play goals. As Dave pointed
out, Parris Duffus was again subjected to a barrage of breakaways,
including a stop against Derek Chauvette in the final seconds of
regulation time that preserved the tie. Chauvette's breakaway
came about when Cornell's Joe Dragon started a one-man rush up
ice and Dave Burke and Paul Dukovac (senior defenseman and co-
captains, for God's sake!) raced up to join him. Brown took the
puck away, and Cornell had nobody back. Cornell's power play
went 0 x 5 and has not scored in 19 chances over four games.
On the brighter side for the Big Red, it was the first point
for Cornell in four games. Geoff Bumstead returned to the lineup
after missing 6 games with a groin injury and scored a goal,
and junior Russ Hammond got the first goal of his career.
