Yes, this bothered me too.  I know the original discussion started
with something of the order of, "If you were a school moving up to
DivI such as Mankato is next year and you needed someone to lead your
program, who would it be?"  Unfortunately, some of the responses made
it sound as if Mankato *was* looking for a coach.  Hindsight is 20/20,
but it would have been better not to mention Mankato at all since some
people did appear to get confused.  SteveG tried to correct the
situation soon after his initial post, but it may have been too late
by then.
 
BTW, Mankato has an official web site and email...I've been wondering
if they were aware of the (unintended) direction this discussion took
and whether they got a kick out of it or not.  Headline: "Electronic
mailing list tries to fire coach just as program goes DivI".  I think
I'd get a good laugh out of it if I were Brose.  After all, it was a
relatively harmless misunderstanding.
