So, the Battle of the Bears ended with the Black over Brown by a 4-2 count.
1-1 after one, 2-2 after two, then two consecutive Brown penalties at 1:19
and 3:52 of the third period decided the game. Brown killed the first
(hooking) minor but couldn't hold off the guys in blue from Orono when the
second transgression was whistled 33 seconds later against the same player
(oh, those freshman mistakes). The second penalty looked like a neutral
ice brush contact to me but the refs called high-sticking (I really think I
would have picked up on something like that) and you can imagine the rest
of the tale. Maine scores the gamewinner 36 seconds later and then clamps
the lid on defensively. Maine has an excellent team that never lets up and
exploits the slightest weakness/mistake in their opponent, but on this
particular evening, Bruno gave them all they could handle.

Now its on to Harvard's Bright Arena this Saturday for the third of seven
straight road games, and if the Maine game was for a small measure of
respect, the return match with the Crimson is for ECAC and Ivy placement.
This is always a fierce confrontation and with Harvard also needing to
regain momentum after a 2-1 overtime loss to Boston College last Tuesday,
it should be a great night of hockey with the winner solidifying their
position in the standings.
