Mike Maas became the first hometown player from Big Rapids, Mich. to
sign with the Ferris State Bulldogs.  Maas played four years at Big
Rapids from 1990-93, scoring 80 goals with 126 assists for 206 points.
In his senior year, he set a B.R. record with 49 assists as the
Cardinals advanced to the state Class B semi-finals for the second
consecutive year.  Big Rapids is coached by former Bulldog Jim "Hobey"
Baker.  Maas, a defenseman, played the last two years in the NAHL.
Ferris coach Bob Daniels has also signed RW Geoff Bennetts from the Des
Moines Bucs, LW Kenzie Homer from the Estevan (SASK) Bruins, RW Joel
Irwin from the Kelowna (B.C.) Spartans and RW/C Mike Olaski from Nipawin
(SASK) Hawks.
