As I was riding home on the train Sunday evening, and withdrawal was
setting in, I was thinking of the rather wonderful women's games I
have seen this season. I also realized that I seem to have two home
teams these days. With that in mind, I started listing my favorite
players on either the Composite Home Team (Northeastern and Harvard)
or the Most Worthy Opponent Team. While I don't care much for stats,
I can say that all the women listed below can, as hockey players,
let it rip!

Composite Home 1st Team:
Goalie: Erin Villiotte (Har)
Defenders: Bree Cheatham (Nor) - Holly Leitzes (Har)
Attackers: Shelley Looney (Nor) - Jeanine Sobek (Nor) - Joey Alissi (Har)

Composite Home 2nd Team:
Goalie: Michelle DiStefano (Nor)
Defenders: Katherine Wyman (Nor) - Colleen Malek (Har)
Attackers: Angela Scerra (Nor) - Rayanne Conway (Nor) - Kim Haman (Nor)

Most Worthy Opponent 1st Team:
Goalie: Kate Presbrey (Bro)
Defenders: Chris Bailey (Pro) - Amy McPhee (UNH)
Attackers: Gretchen Ulion (Dar) - Alison Wheeler (Pro) - Kathy Issel (Pri)

Most Worthy Opponent 2nd Team:
Goalie: Gina Martiniello (Pro)
Defenders: Sue Reece (Pri) - Shannon Bryant (Bro)
Attackers: Alana Blahoski (Pro) - Kim Reid (Dar) - Joy Woog (Bro)

Most Worthy Opponent 3rd Unit:
Defenders: Sarah Vogler (Dar) - Kim Dowd (Pro)
Attackers: Nan Gorton (Bow) - Katie King (Bro) - Karen Emma (BC)

Player of the Year: Shelley Looney (Nor)
For thrilling skating, superb stickhandling and passing, and lovely
finishing.

Rookie of the Year: Alison Wheeler (Pro)
For being able to follow Cammi and do it with a style all her own.

Defender of the Year: Chris Bailey (Pro)
For powerful skating and intelligent reads rather on defense or on
the attack.

Coach of the Year: Heather Linstad (Nor)
For lifting a team that does not have the depth of other squads
up to the level of exceptional team play that combines great skating
and passing with clever scoring.

Team for Next Year: Brown
With that many skillful players coming back, the Bears should be one
of the teams to beat.
