Headline: WCHA Honors Trebil
Publish Date: 01/25/1994

Gopher defenseman Dan Trebil has been named WCHA player of the week
by league commissioner Otto Breitenbach.

Trebil has been instrumental in keying the Gophers' recent surge from
last place to their current second-place standing.

The sophomore from Bloomington, Minn., collected two assists Friday
in Minnesota's 6-5 victory over Denver, including assists on the
game-tying goal and Dave Larson's game-winner with 17 seconds left in
overtime.

He has also been stellar on the defensive end, where the Gophers held
the Pioneers to just one goal on 14 power-play attempts during the
series.

The conference also announced that Wisconsin forward Andrew Shier was
named the offensive player of the week for his efforts against
Minnesota-Duluth.

The senior scored a hat trick in Friday's 6-1 win and added his 77th
career assist in Saturday's 4-3 loss. Shier leads the WCHA in
scoring, with 13 goals and 22 assists in 20 games.

Gophers sophomore Brian Bonin also had a four-point weekend with a pure
hat-trick on Saturday night in Denver.
