I will try to correct you. It's my understanding that the NY Ranger's name
came via their original owner, a promoter named Tex Rickard. Thus Tex's
Rangers.
And the LA Lakers are every bit as apropos as the LA Dodgers and the Utah
Jazz.

somewhere that the New York Rangers originally came from somewhere in
Minnesota. Thus the name.
Similar to the L.A. Lakers that were once the Minneapolis Lakers.
