Since someone from Providence already posted, I will dispense with the box scores and such and limit myself to comments.

This was no fluke game. Providence came out flying and outskated and outchecked the Engineers for most of the night.
The Friars won the game because, last night, they were the better team. No excuses.

This was a different game from the RPI-BGSU game the night before. The Wed. night game was hard hitting, physical play
while Thursday was not only physical but a lot of clutching and grabbing. Referee Dan Murphy just let them play as he did the night before. RPI made the adjustment against Bowling Green but couldn't against a bigger and faster Providence team.

One comment about the Engineers future this season.
IMHO, it's time for Coach Fridgen to abandon his goalie rotation between Joel Laing and Scott Prekaski. Prekaski is a decent goalie but laing is emerging as the better of the two.
If Fridgen expects to go anywhere past the ECAC season, he needs to have his best between the pipes. Prekaski did not play nearly as well last night as Laing did the night before.
And I believe the team recognizes that fact also. They seem to play more aggressively and with more confidence with Laing behind them. We'll see if Fridgen gets the message.

Congrats to the Friars on the championship performance.
