From this morning's Star Tribune:
Former Gophers captain Lance Pitlick is the latest Minnesotan to become a
casualty fo Team USa, after suffering a stress fracture in his left leg.
Pitlick, a strong candidate on defense, suffered the injury in an exhibition
game late last week and had surgery over the weekend to insert two pins in his
leg, just above the ankle. He is definitely out of the Olympics, which are a
month away in Albertville, France. Pitlick's injury follows the sidelining
of forward Grant Bischoff, another former Gopher star, who recently was
diagnosed with mononucleosis.
This really makes me sad. Lance had fought back from an injury to an
abdominal muscle in December of his senior year here at Minnesota, and he
also had to have additional surgery this past summer for the same injury.
Maybe they really do need Moe Mantha now.
